Our Mission
Firefly’s adhere to responsible and ethical breeding practices in order to produce dogs that meet the standard of perfection as written by the American Kennel Club.
Our collective mission is to protect and advance the interest of the Golden Retriever and the Flatcoated Retriever by either participating in Conformation, Performance Sports, and/or Hunting with our own dogs, as well as conducting sanctioned matches and specialty shows, field trials, tracking tests and obedience trials, dockdiving, under the rules of the American Kennel Club, and or International IABCA Titles and educating our owners as well as the public regarding the care, training and responsible breeding of Golden Retrievers.
From My Veterinarian
I would say that Lorie takes the best care of her dogs. I am a retired veterinarian that has provided services to her and for her family over the last 45 years. All the dogs are clean. No odors. Very social. Not to mention how cute they are. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new canine family member.

Firefly’s Retrievers is a small kennel located in Kansas City, Missouri.
We are small by choice, so we can focus on the quality of our dogs & puppies, rather than the quantity. Our goal is to produce healthy, happy, great-tempered; Show, Sport, & Service Dogs, and of course a perfect companion for you!
Breeding Standards
Approved by the AKC
To preserve the structure, soundness, temperament, natural abilities and personality of the Golden Retriever as described in the breed standard and to do all possible to bring their natural abilities and qualities to perfection. To accept the standard of the breed as approved by the AKC as the only standard of excellence. To breed for excellence for companionship, service, dog shows, field events, dockdiving events, urban trials, tracking, obedience trials and all field events. To do our best to educate families and the public in all aspects of owning a Golden Retriever.
